Bhagwan Birsa Biological Park, Ranchi is one of the most beautiful zoos in India, located in the lap of a beautiful natural surrounding. Unlike most of the zoos, it covers over 104 ha. of mildly undulating topography with natural dry deciduous forest, in and around water bodies and other natural features that provide the wild animals natural habitat to live in harmony with the nature. It is situated on the Ranchi-Ramgarh section of National Highway 33, about 20 kms from Ranchi & in the vicinity of Chakla village, Block-Ormanjhi, Dist-Ranchi, Jharkhand. The National Highway segments the site in two unequal halves, the smaller section being the botanical section and the larger one being unequal halves, the smaller section being the botanical section and the larger one being the zoological section. It was dedicated to the public on 26th January, 1994. Around 4 lakh visitors visit the zoo every year. Most of the inmates of this Biological Park live in open, large moated areas surrounded by natural vegetation. This gives them a feeling of living in their natural habitat.
